Name: | Kyousuke Kiryu (Pern AU) |
---|---|
Birthdate: | Nov 17 |
Location: | United Kingdom |
He comes from after the 'Crashtown' arc, despite being from an AU where most of the action is set in the world of Ann McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern.
The Signer Dragons were 'born' as actual, live dragons that Impressed their riders and formed a bond with them, the same as any rider and their dragon.
If only the Dark Signers were so lucky.
The Earthbound Gods had somehow followed the humans to this far-off planet, maintaining a connection of sorts to the lines and geoglyphs they were sealed under. They took their hosts, and instead of forming a symbiotic relationship, would cause their Dark Signer to be unaware that they could be anything without them, similar to how a dragonrider is with their dragon, only this being a distinctly unhealthy and destructive relationship.
They would still on the whole feel a keen sense of loss upon their revival; the gods had not gone without a fight, and had torn a piece of their soul out with them, just as a dragonrider would feel if their dragon would die.
Some would be able to work around, or even with, this feeling of despair. Some would find a substitute, in some ways, Carly first with Jack and then later with Impressing a hatchling that would take the Earthbound God's place in her soul and begin to heal what had been hurt.
Kiryu, though... he had found himself in among criminals and the holdless again, and had been unable to stop the loss and despair from overtaking him, attributing it to his own actions - to anything other than the idea that his soul was reaching out for something it could no longer have, and that he would not give it. Yuusei would later find him and bring him back to his senses, and for the most part he is somewhat satisfied with his lot, now.
But there is still a feeling of something 'missing', something 'not there'. And he knows, he understands, that it isn't going anywhere. He's come to terms with it, really.
He has two fire lizards with him - they're basically small dragons which are big enough to curl their tails around a person's neck like they're some kind of elaborate choker - a bronze and a brown. Kiryu Impressed them while on the journey to Crashtown, and like any with a fire lizard they share an empathic bond. Strong, but not quite strong enough to wear away at what Ccapac Apu did.
